Frequently Asked Questions

>>>Why don't I just replace my bathtub? The purchase of a bathtub can cost as little as $300, but after adding up all the costs that a contractor would charge, the total cost quickly adds up to thousands. Demolition & removal..................................600.00 Purchase new steel tub..................................300.00 Install new drain............................................400.00 Install new surround above tub.....................500.00 Finish work on floor & walls. ......................300.00  Total cost to replace bathtub...... .$2,100.00 ............vs...............Refinish bathtub........... $400.00 >>>How long will my bathtub last? If properly maintained and no abrasive chemicals are used for cleaning, the finish will last up to 10 years. We have had some customers call us for a refinish 18 years later. >>>Can you refinish a tub that has been already refinished? Yes, a tub that has been refinished before can be refinished again. If the old finish is in good condition, just dull or worn, we can refinish right over the old finish after it has been sanded and cleaned. If the old finish is peeling or chipping we would then strip the old finish off completely. This assures that the new finish is bonded to a good surface. >>>How long does the bathtub refinishing process take? Our refinishing process typically takes 4-5 hours to complete. Your bathtub will be ready for use the next morning. >>>Does the paint have any strong odors? Yes, however, to reduce the smell we thoroughly seal off the bathroom and place a strong exhaust fan that greatly reduces the odor and overspray. The odor may linger for a few hours after we finish. You can further reduce the odor by opening any windows in the bathroom or turning on the bathroom exhaust fan. >>>How do I care for and clean my refinished bathtub? Refinished bathtubs are often easier to clean than the original product. Make sure you use mild, non-abrasive cleaning products. Just as with a new bathtub, the finish or shine can be dulled by abrasive cleaners. Refer to our Care & Maintenance section for more details. >>>What about bathmats? We advise that you do not use them. The suction cups on the bottom of bath mats can trap water and eventually compromise the finish. As an alternative, we offer a non-skid product that is functional and blends in with the bathtub.
